The course covers the practical issues of
central banking. It discusses comprehensively the objectives and roles of monetary policy; and gives
guidance for the choice of monetary policy strategies. The course also presents
the role of central banks and illustrates the
conduct of monetary policy. Institutional questions (decision making, independence, accountability,
transparency, communication), and the
challenges facing the central banks in the globalized financial markets are
also being covered significantly.
